Why Understanding Changes Everything
The Problem with Quick Fixes
Traditional training addresses symptoms, not causes. You've tried techniques that work for other dogs but not yours, leaving you frustrated and your dog still struggling. Without understanding the complete picture, even well-intentioned solutions can make things worse.
The L.E.G.S.® model + Total Welfare
Using Kim Brophey's evidence-based L.E.G.S.® model, we examine your dog's:
- Learning - Every experience that shaped their worldview
- Environment - The daily stressors and supports in their world
- Genetics - Breed heritage and natural instincts driving behavior
- Self - Individual health, personality, and emotional state
Plus Total Welfare Assessment across five domains:
- Nutrition
- Physical environment
- Health
- Behavioral interactions
- Mental state
This comprehensive approach reveals not just WHY your dog behaves the way they do, but whether all aspects of their wellbeing support thriving or need attention.
The Four Pillars Relationship Assessment
Beyond understanding your dog individually, we examine the relationship foundation:
- Safety - Physical and emotional security for both you and your dog
- Trust - Communication patterns and relationship dynamics
- Support - Family collaboration and stress management systems
- Choice - Agency and empowerment opportunities in daily life
When you understand both your dog's complete picture AND the relationship dynamics, management strategies become clear, sustainable, and effective. No more guessing—just informed, compassionate action.
The L.E.G.S.® model + Total Welfare and the Four Pillars Approach examines interconnected components that influence all aspects of your dog's wellbeing—providing complete rather than partial understanding.
Your dog's transformation starts with understanding.
Discover what your dog really needs through a comprehensive behavioral and wellness assessment, based on L.E.G.S. ®+ Total Welfare + Four Pillars Approach—the foundation for effective, humane, and lasting change.
Kind Words
"The behavioral assessment gave me clarity I didn’t even realize I was missing. I have a sassy mini Aussie shepherd, and before this, I felt like I was guessing at what she needed. The assessment was structured, practical, and tailored to her personality and breed. I was able to implement things right away, especially puzzle games and mental enrichment, and it made an immediate difference in her focus and calmness.
The biggest change is how much better I understand and communicate with my dog now. She seems happier and more confident, and I feel more equipped instead of unsure. Jennyfer Tan also provides 1:1 support, which has been amazing. I can ask questions, get guidance, and feel supported as I put things into practice.
I would recommend her to any dog owner who wants to understand their dog better and build a stronger relationship."

Meet Jennyfer Tan, Certified Family Dog Mediator
Growing up in Manila, dogs were something to fear. But fear has a way of transforming when you least expect it. When we moved to BC, a gentle husky at my kids' school began to change my perspective.
That transformation led me to Rosco and Rei—two rescue dogs who taught me the most important lesson of all: every dog has a story, and that story matters. Rosco, an anxious puppy who never knew his mother. Rei, a street dog from Korea adjusting to the constraints of pet life. Traditional training didn't work for either of them—they needed to be understood, not fixed.
Today, as a certified Family Dog Mediator and Good Dog Academy Professional Dog Trainer, I help families understand their dogs through the L.E.G.S.® model + Total Welfare framework and my Four Pillars approach. Because when you understand WHY your dog behaves the way they do, the right strategies become clear.
